Worg of the Words

The two riderless Worgs arrive back at Akbarr Tower, tongues lolling and eyes still wide with fear.
They’d run for hours and were desperate to warn the human defenders.
After being given bowls of water, One of the Black Knight death cultists, squats down beside them.
“What’s wrong boys? Timmy down the well?”

On a Mission from God

Volkon kneels in front of the Abbot and bows his head.
"Your Eminence, that you should offer us a boon as payment for our work for your god humbles me. But there is so little I desire, my sword is great and I would never want to replace it. And my friends offer me the best protection that I could desire."
"Is there nothi ...", the Abbot begins.
"But ..."
"... yes?"
"But, I should serve them better were I better armoured.", continues the Red-Headed boy.
The Abbot laughs. "Go on."
"I have heard of a great Armour only bestowed by the gods. It weighs but a feather, but can stop the devils own scythe. And, with a prayer can gift the power of the angels and lift you into the air."
The Abbot stops and thinks. They boy is clearly not as naive as he looks!
"I have heard of this. Celestial Armour it is called."
"I will pray for it. And so should you my son!"

Celestial Armour, 2,550 gp (+3 Chainmail, light armour. Can be worn under clothes. Fly once per day)

Nimble fingers. (and toes, arms, legs)

Nitendae had always been impressed with the strength of the boybarian Volkon. Even more so when enhanced with the magic gauntlets he wore.
It got him thinking if it was possible to enhance strength, maybe it could also improve dexterity.
If Nite' could improve his dex' most of his skills would benefit.
So waiting for after the evening prayer to finish he approached the Abbot.
"Given thought to this 'boon' you offering, done a bit of looking and there's these gloves of dexterity.
Should be damn useful my line of work. Whats' the chance you could make it happen?"

(Gloves of Dexterity +4. 16000gp)
(shame they don't do +5. 25000gp)

Weirdly unbalanced Division of Treasure (Sorry David and Assif)

Many valuable objects were left behind in Bastien’s haste to return his prize to his Abbot in the priory but you still made some impressive gains.

Am I right in assuming the below?

Bastien:        Full-plate armour of improved silence +3
                      Light crossbow +2 of Seeking

Sereena:        Ring of chameleon power

Demitasse:    Light metal spiked shield of bashing +3
                      Masterwork Light Crossbow

Marlon:        Longsword of Mighty Cleaving +3
(+ Bastien’s old Lightly Fortified Plate mail +1)

Issack:          1 potion of invisibility?

Hopefully, the 30,000gp limit boons (when you make your decisions) will redress the imbalance…

After selling (via the priests) the spell books, unwanted minor magical shields and swords and masterwork items, you have an individual coin grand total of:

Volkon:     104pp / 1475gp / 86sp / 47cp

Bastien:     104pp / 1475gp / 86sp / 47cp

Nitendae:  104pp / 1475gp / 86sp / 47cp

Marlon:      52pp / 738gp / 43sp / 24cp

Sereena:     52pp / 738gp / 43sp / 24cp

Demitasse: 52pp / 738gp / 43sp / 24cp

Craven Ravens

“They’ve spotted us!” shrieks Lobber to his clan brother Flob.
Urgently shoeing the messenger ravens into the air, the two goblin scouts mount their loyal worgs and attempt to ride to safety.
There’s already over a hundred feet between them and the humans but they still instinctively duck as a volley of arrows zip over their heads.
The arrows however are aimed at other targets…
The ravens!
The goblins grin at each other though. No way can anyone hit scattering ravens at this distance.
In the last few seconds, the ravens had already added another couple of hundred feet distance and were rising higher and higher into the air…
And then one is struck!
Spiraling as it tumbles back toward the earth, it’s obviously already dead.
The second raven’s black body is pierced and killed mid-air a moment later.
Without looking back, the goblins realise that they’re dealing with more than just one talented archer.
“Fuuuucck!” screams Flob to Lobber as they urge their wolf-like mounts to greater speed.
Soon though, Lobber’s Worg rushes past with its saddle empty …
Glancing over his shoulder, Flob sees his spear-brother face down, dead in the dirt.
Unfortunately for him though, he doesn’t see another arrow heading towards him until it penetrates his skull.
Sensing their own doom, the two Worgs discover an extra burst of speed and manage to put enough distance between them and the cursed archers.

Get off my Back!

Marlon stares up at the old Abbot’s wrinkled face and awaits his response.
“That… That’s surprisingly generous of you, young man.”
Shrugging his shoulders, Marlon attempts to explain.
“It ain't that generous your worshipfullness sir. Lately, I’ve bin feeling more likes a mule than a warrior.”
The kindly Abbot smiles for a moment before, again becoming more serious.
“I fully understand your reasons and even applaud them but I still can’t grant what you’re asking for. Animating the dead is inherently evil and Flesh Golems are no exception."
Shoulders sagging, Marlon nods. Maybe he should have just asked for a magic helmet or something?
Like the sun coming out though, the Abbot of Fharlanghn smiles again.
“Worry not son. There are still a few other, less evil, ways to accomplish what your immobile friend requires…”

Perfect Medi-sense

Despite being surrounded by clerics of a different faith, Demitasse feels safer than he's felt in months.
Still, he knows that it can't last and he knows his purpose within the group:
Heal the injured and give them guidance.
That understanding made his request to the Fharlanghn Abbot simple...

Demitasse received a 'Lesser strand of prayer beads' as his boon.
(It enables him to cast an extra 'Bless' and a 'Cure serious wounds' spell once a day.)

Value: 9,600gp

Save me from Myself

Standing before the alter in the secluded priory of Fharlanghn, Sereena makes her request.
“I am soft and vulnerable, yet compelled to repeatedly place myself in deadly peril. Grant me a gift to keep me safe whenever dangers arise.”
The old Abbot rubs his balding pate and smiles.
“There are several ways to protect yourself from harm. Avoidance is best, friends are next but I’m guessing what you really want is something to keep you from injury. Armour would be of very little benefit to you but I’m sure I can find something to please you. Give me a few days to find the best option available…”

Sereena’s boon: A Cloak of Resistance +3
(+3 to all saving rolls. Fortitude, Reflex and Will)

Value: 9,000gp

The Experience of Ravens

I was really impressed how you all played over the weekend. You surprised me again and again and, after successfully finishing off the adventure, you all deserved to go up another level. Even Bastien!

I hope you all enjoyed yourselves as much as I did!

Bastien      +10,434  =  29,556    8th level!
Volkon      +9,884   =  32,036    8th level!
Nitendae   +9,434   =  31,466    8th level!
Marlon      +5,017   =  11,849    5th level!
Demitasse  +4,467   =  10,468    5th level!
Sereena     +4,317   =  11,149    5th level!

Divide up the treasure, choose your ’30,000gp or less boon’ gift from the Church of Fharlanghn and redo your character sheets. Also, don’t forget to add that bonus attribute point!

I do expect a short story about the ‘boon’ you choose though.

Spoils

Treasure list from the last adventure

From the Gnolls
20 gp, 34sp 127cp
2 golden wedding bands

From the black Cloaks
108gp, 66sp, 48cp
6 potions of invisibility
6 spell books

From the Crossbow men
72gp 30sp 12cp
Studded leather armour x6
Masterwork Crossbow x6
Lonsword x6
Shield x6

From the 2 Knights
Masterwork Full plate armour
+1 Longsword
+1 Heavy Shields
2 Warhorses with Chainmail
2 Master work lances
(No money mentioned)

Akbar's War-horse
Magic Lance +2
Chain armour +1
Magical horseshoes of the Zephyr

Akbar
Full-plate armour of improved silence +3
Longsword +3 of Mighty Cleaving
Light crossbow +2 of Seeking
Ring of chameleon power
(No money mentioned)
And, of course, the Slippers of Flangharaaalaan

Clearly the 3 horses were left behind with all their magic.  We could have put the magic lance and horseshoes into Isaac - but we didn't.
I also think we wouldn't have taken the mundane weapons and armour - again we could have put them into Isaac but we didn't say we did (did we?).
Demitasse and Bastien did keep a Masterwork Crossbow each though.
We also burned through most if not all of the 6 potions of invisibility.

So that leaves us with

200gp, 130sp, 187cp
+ 2000gp each down-payment for getting the slippers
2 golden wedding bands

Full-plate armour of improved silence +3
Longsword +3 of Mighty Cleaving
Light crossbow +2 of Seeking
Ring of chameleon power
Masterwork Full plate armour
+1 Longsword
+1 Heavy Shields
1 potion of invisibility?
6 spell books
2 Masterwork Crossbows (Demitasse and Bastien)
and a Magical "Boon" *each* worth up to 30,000gp!

On, Off, On Again...

OK Boys. I've finished-ish the 'Dungeon' and almost printed out some mini-monsters.
Hopefully I'll even have the maps done by tomorrow!
I'll be driving down late Friday night.
David, you're welcome to join me early but I won't expect Assif and Scott until around mid-day.
If you're early and I'm not there, I'll probably just be walking the dog or at the shops.
As in now tradition, I'll provide food and drink.
Please bring anything you want but I'll NEED Scott's wipe-down-map-thingy and non-permanent markers.
Possibly walking-in-mud shoes?
Also: YOUR CHARACTER SHEETS!
Scott... Please bring both level 6 and 7 versions.
We'll make the 'Did-Bastien's-armour-save-him-or-not' 1 in 4 roll before play starts.
Oh, and everyone please bring their own set of dice.

Sad News

Although we were planning on meeting up this weekend, I'm cancelling due to Jackie losing her father this week.
I don't think anyone would expect Assif to be anywhere but by his wife's side at this time.
