Meanwhile, a thousand miles away

As soon as Bastien, Nitendae and Volkon disappearate, Sereena rolls up her gossamer sleeves and jangles her bangles.
Smokey, summoned, ghost-like horses appear one after another until all three stand patiently for Marlon, Demitasse and Sereena to stow Issack's left behind gear.
Once mounted, the pretty young sorceress leans back in the saddle and shouts "Hold on tight!", before spurring her phantom steed onward.
Despite having an inkling of the potential speed of these ghost horses, all three of them are shocked by their velocity.
None have them have ever travelled at anywhere near this rate!
Still, they grip the reins within their fists, squeeze their knees as tightly as they can manage and simply try to hold on for dear life.
Fortunately, the ride is surprisingly smooth. Demitasse struggles to rationalise this, until he realises the reality of his situation. The magical phantom steeds are effectively flying and although it seems as if they're galloping, their smoke-like hooves aren't really touching the ground!
After about seven blurred-by hours, the misty-grey horses slow to a canter, a trot and then to a stop, giving Marlon, Demitasse and Sereena plenty of time to dismount and unload their belongings.
As the horses evaporate, Demitasse turns to Sereena.
"Do you think the others have arrived at Fewham yet?"
Sereena considers the question...
"It's been nearly eight hours. They'll probably all be dead by now. Volkon definitely!"
Marlon looks up and adds, sulkily,
"Well at least HE got a kiss before dying."

  1. Volkon got a kiss? Must have missed that!
Sorry, remind me, how are us three real characters transporting ourselves?
    And where?
God I have a bad memory!

  2. You don't remember?
    Really?
I thought I acted that entire goodbye scene quite well.
Without checking my notes, I'll remind you.

Demitasse: "Although we can't go with you, I can... give you something to help and protect you."
(Demitasse gives Volkon a golden locket in the shape of the sun and spends about an hour transferring some of his divine powers to the pagan barbarian.)
Marlon: "I cant giv youse nutin' ta 'elp… excepti' ta wish youse good luck! (Marlon does clumsy thumbs up gesture.)
Sereena: "I think what our beef-headed friend is trying to say is: 'Don't die!'. (Walking over to Volkon, she stops an inch between them, takes his hands in hers, goes up high on her tip-toes and kisses him full and firmly on the lips.)
    "That applies especially to you."
    :)

  3. My memory of the adventure is quite strong but that's probably because I wrote it.
Is anyone else not getting my 'And then' posts?
    :S

  4. Also, you're currently travelling by the divine power of Fharlangn!
Bastien: "Roads? where we're going, We don't need roads!"
(Bastien teleports you anywhere you want to go within a 1,200 mile radius.)
    :D

  6. I remember the kiss part, Nite' was jealous as they all seemed to care more about Volkon.
Kirk explained they just expected the hot headed boybarian to be the one most likely to die. Prophecy or foreshadowing?

  7. Sorry these weekends are a blue for me.
Do note I realise that this was all before the weekends activities rather than after. Hence my confusion as to where we are going
This is all like a bad Tarantino movie. The time order is all mixed up.

  8. Actually, to be fair, the 'Meanwhile' in the headline is a bit confusing.
The post starts at the beginning of the adventure and finishes at the end.
    Twenty-two lines representing eight hours.
The 'meanwhile' only applies to the end.
Time in D&D is weird generally though.
The entire last weekend session only covered about seven hours in game time.
    :S
