There’s nothing that Sereena wants beyond
some ‘big strong boys’ to protect her but Marlon has his eyes on Bastien’s old
armour.
After Sereena’s encouragement, the newly
graduated Fighter, accompanied by the sorceress, seeks the Cleric Bastien out.
“Um… Master Bastien… Would you… Er…
Considers passing me on your ol’ full-plate armour… Like as an advance on me
future earnings?”
The armoured cleric just looks at the burly
Fighter for a moment.
Marlon had already taken a hefty chunk of
coin from Nitendea for his combat training.
Sensing Bastien’s concern, Marlon tries to
justify his request.
“I’d rather just borrows it but as I’m a
bit bigger than you, it’ll need some adjustin’ by the Smithy. I just figures
that the longer I can keep standing, the better it’ll be for everybody else.”
Bastien nods sagely at the obvious truth.
Still, that armour took him years to save up for. It cost him a fortune!
“Is that all you want?”
Marlon bites his tongue but, after a few
moments, Sereena pipes up.
“He'll obviously need some coin to pay the
Smithy for the resizing.”
Bastien sighs.
“And how much will that cost?”
Marlon finds his voice again.
“He said, if he can have a week to do it,
it’ll be ‘just’ 200 gold coins.”
Bastien’s face is an unreadable mask, so
Marlon tries to persuade him further.
“He said that it was a bargain!”
Wisdom +3. Sounds pretty expensive to me. He can have the armour, but I'll only pay the Smithy half of that.

Sereena used her charms to get the price down.
Marlon has absolutely no money and can't afford it without help.
